In collaboration with the Department of Digital Media & Design, I organized and led a hybrid information session introducing students to the SIGGRAPH conference and the Student Volunteer (SV) program. The presentation provided an overview of SIGGRAPH as a leading international conference in computer graphics, animation, visual effects, and interactive media, while sharing firsthand experiences from my participation as a Student Volunteer.

The session focused on the professional and educational benefits of conference participation, including networking opportunities, industry exposure, portfolio development, and career preparation. Particular attention was given to students interested in 3D animation, motion graphics, visual effects, and related creative technology fields. The presentation also initiated discussions regarding the development of a UConn SIGGRAPH Student Chapter to strengthen student engagement with the broader SIGGRAPH community.

The event was offered in both in-person and virtual formats,
and a recording was distributed to students who were unable to attend live.

Topics Covered

  • Introduction to SIGGRAPH and its global community

  • Student Volunteer program experience

  • Professional development and career benefits

  • Conference participation strategies

  • Networking and industry engagement

  • Discussion of a UConn SIGGRAPH Student Chapter

As part of the presentation, I introduced my thesis project, The Garden of Liberation, offering students an example of graduate-level creative research and interdisciplinary project development.
